Hunger In Our Schools

Hunger is a real issue. It is not something that is happening all the way around the world and we are completely removed from it. It is happening next door, down the street. Your kids are sitting next to kids who have not eaten a good meal in a very long time. Malnutrition is not a foreign concept only used for those poor, bloated children on TV.

Many of the children in our country are going to school hungry. Not the kind of hunger you get from skipping a meal. These are the children who are undernourished. These kids are missing more than meals. A hungry child cannot learn like a nourished child. If you think about Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, we know that a person can’t focus on education when they are starving. Teachers are seeing it every day.

Please do what you can to bring awareness to this.

Loving these posts to get the word out so much attention is focused on the world outside our own country. . .but hungry kids live next door and we need to see them and help them.
