50 Things I have learned in 50 years – Day 38
There are a couple weeks until I turn 50. As we enter December and my 50th birthday looms like the shiny lights all over my house, I feel even more compelled to share what I have learned. Sure, some lessons have been better than others but lessons learned nonetheless.
I know you’re thinking, ‘Did you learn anything about life and stuff?’ Which brings me to #38
Take care of yourself…. first.
I am talking directly to all of you who feel the need to care for your families and loved ones at the expense of your own health. Stop it. You can’t be there for them if you are not there for yourself. Be nice to yourself. Pamper yourself. Give yourself a break. Treat yourself. When you are happy, everyone around you will seem happier. And if not, they should be nice and take care of themselves.
I know. You are sitting there reading this and saying, ‘but I have a baby!’ or ‘I have three kids!’ or ‘I have responsibilities!’ Yeah, yeah. I know, but, you can’t be there for them if you are not there for yourself. Sure, people will call you selfish and all sorts of things. So what?
Do you. Be you. Take care of you.
Come back for the next 12 days and see what else I have learned.
