50 Things I have learned in 50 years – Day 21

There is a little more than a month until I turn 50. I have been sharing some of the things I have learned over the years the last 20 days (#50until50) and have been surprised with some of them. Why is my list better than someone else’s? Why do I think the lessons I have learned are better than others? Honest answer? I don’t. I am just happy that I have not stayed stagnant and I have committed myself to a well examined life.

I know you’re thinking, ‘What else could you have learned?’ Which brings me to #21

People don’t change….if that was true we would all be in diapers.

People change. People grow up and evolve. People are built up and destroyed over and over. The ego is a stack of Jenga pieces just waiting to be toppled so you can rebuild yourself. To believe otherwise is to live a half-life.

People who say that ‘people don’t change’ are individuals who resist life and what would happen if….Everything changes. Everything experiences something that will mold it and carve lines of happiness or scars of pain. The trick is to embrace those moments for yourself. This is your opportunity to rebuild yourself anew and the excitement of who you can be should motivate you to go BOLD!

Come back for the next 29 days and see what else I have learned.
