Taking A Stand On Homosexuality

We think you know how we feel about gay rights but we realized that we have never really made a definitive statement on the subject. So this week we are making that statement. We are in support of gay rights. To be honest, we really do not want to care. This isn’t us being dismissive. This is us being practical. If it was not for some white fundamentalist dipshit with a bible in one hand and his dick in another making this into his political platform (Santorum), we would not care. We really resent that homophobia has turned this into a civil rights issue, but it has, so we are taking a stand.

Teen Suicide and Homosexuality

Everybody can imagine when they were teens. When Hollywood makes films of adults wishing to return to that time of their lives, it seems outrageous. Why go back to a time of your life where your entire internal and external worlds were so confusing? Internally, we were going through a transformation not unlike a scary sci-fi flick. We grew more hair, our chest grew, our voices changed and the young ladies began to spontaneously bleed. Our hormones signaled the beginning of our fertility and made it difficult to think when the object of sexual desire came into view. For most teens, sexual awakening is confusing and exciting. For others, who go against the societal belief of heteronormativity, this time can be painful and frightening. We write this for those teens that never make it to see a day where it does get better.

On Homosexuality

We have been vocal about it. We have mentioned it several times. However, due to the scary political climate, we feel the need to be very clear and use our voice to provide information, an education and support for our gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered brothers and sisters. This week we will discuss the issues of homosexuality and the ridiculous extent that people will go to deny and avoid the existence of this population. Today will be a homosexual primer.

Gay Suicides

I am in love. I have loved the same person for more than 20 years. I fell in love after only a few short weeks of courting. In the last 20 years, my love has grown and we have shared that by starting a family. We have a home, a good support system and participate in our community. Now here is the question: Does it matter at this point whether the person I love is a man or a woman?

WTF of the Week: Do as I say…

Today is Wednesday where I usually get to smackdown a celeb. But today is a little different because it feels more like a WTF than a smack down. Oh my WTF’s, how I’ve missed you. I have been on a spiritual quest and I have been holding in my judgments like a constipated pregnant woman. Pain in my gut and a general malaise has forced me to break my silence and vow of zen-ness. And what, pray tell would get me to avert my eyes from Nirvana? Why the hypocrisy and mendacity of the world. Like Big Daddy and Brick (it’s Oscars-time and a great movie reference was a must), I must rage against the disgust!

WTF of the Week: Uganda’s Kill the Gays Bill

When we think of the miracle of the Christmas Season, we always remember ‘A Christmas Carol’. Remember the Albert Finney version of the story? We watch it every year and sing along to the disturbing music. Now, this would never happen to us because we are good people who love everybody (except for the extremely stupid and bigoted but even those people we don’t wack with a bat). We’ll pray for their putrid souls but at no time will we support any legislation to kill them.

WTF of the Week: Et tu Maine?

We think we have been clear here, haven’t we? We think we have stated our position over and over again throughout our 10 months of posting. We are sure if you go over the WTFs you will find that more than half have been dedicated to the sheer stupidity and utter fuckery of the conservatives who feel that they have to take this country by the hand before we are engulfed in the flames of hell. Our only question is, WHAT THE FUCK MAINE?

Society Smackdown: Homosexuality

Let’s talk about sex baby. It is Wednesday and we have sex on the brain this week. It’s all sex, sex, sex around here. The more we talk about it, the more we want it, the more we do it, the more we want to do it again and keep talking about it. Such a vicious circle. We are constantly bombarded with sexual images and innuendoes to the point where our subconscious mind is riddled with images of flesh and the beast with two backs. We have become obsessed with what and if people are doing something. Are they or aren’t they? Or, is he or is she? Sex and sexuality are not the same thing and yet our culture has made it all about that. If he is a gay man then he is a butt pirate and if she is gay well then she has sensible shoes. The Celebrity Smackdown today is different and in fact so different we will temporarily change the name to Society Smackdown!

Celebrity Smackdown: Westboro Baptist Church

As we breathe the universe into our beings we breathe out any resentment or judgment. This is judgment week at CoupleDumb and the horns are blaring with the coming of the four horsemen: carbs, alcohol, fat and cheese. As we discuss the horrors of judging to your immortal soul we run up against a weekly tradition that requires a smidge of judgment. CELEBRITY SMACKDOWN! How doth we smack without judging? Easy, we smacketh those who judgeth unfairly. We will smack those who smack others. Kind of like an eye for an eye except we get to keep both of ours.
