Romney And Education

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. ~Nelson Mandela

The importance of education is obvious. An intelligent populace will undoubtedly raise the possibilities of solving the problems of a society. Intelligence is essential to succeed in school and education makes sure that we do not repeat mistakes, attempt the illogical because of statistical impossibilities and deepen the breadth and soul of a nation to include an appreciation for beauty

Romney Lies To Keep It White

Human Behavior is fascinating. In relationships, most people bristle at the thought of someone lying or betraying them. Most people have hard fast rules for how they treat people who lie to them. The feeling of betrayal is harder to overcome than abusiveness. However, we seem fine when politicians lie to us. We figure, ‘that is what they do’. However, why would we allow them to treat us like that? Are we O.K. being mushrooms to their bullshit?

Religious Freedom Means I Am Free Of Your Religion

What were the real principles of our founding fathers? Republican’s continually invoke the intentions and beliefs of our founding fathers and the creation of this country even referencing their name from an act of rebellion as a reaction to taxation without representation. These ‘true’ Americans seem to be the real thing from everything from their use of quotes to their daunting love of this nation. But, do these people have any clue what the history of our nation is and on what premises the founding fathers constructed the Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights and Constitution?

Mitt And The Military

We are at war. However, to hear the news or politicians speak, the war is the best kept secret in our country. At the Republican National Convention, the Republican Presidential Candidate, Mitt Romney, did not mention the war in Afghanistan, the troops or anything concerning military concerns. After the convention when asked about the omission, Mitt responded, “You don’t go through a laundry list; you talk about the things you think are important.” What he did mention during the speech is that Russia is “our number one geopolitical foe”. On September 27, in front of the American Legion in Virginia, Mitt did mention troops, but not the war, and did state that his goal was to “have a military so strong no one wants to test it.”

The Right To Marry

We love traditions. We are a family that has many traditions and we enjoy the yearly rituals of Christmas and other holidays. We have traditions stemming from our cultures and some we just invented with our extended family. Tradition should never be considered law since everything changes, families evolve and people move on. So when people use the argument that marriage is traditionally between man and women we agree wholeheartedly. However, that tradition must change.

Paul Ryan And Objectivism

There are many different philosophies by which to live. A way of life is usually created by ways of being. Christians are called upon to live a Christ-Like existence. Walking the path of Christ is to feed the hungry, turning the other cheek, heal the sick and give to the poor. There have been other philosophies that have seeped into our world over time which completely discounts this Christ Consciousness. One of these is being bandied about as a way to heal the wounds of humanity. It is called objectivism.

Romney’s Real Message : They Just Won’t Get It

There are certain things I can rely on; my hair, which is thick and perfect, my husband, who is as loyal as a hound and my IQ. I have great reading comprehension and can handle my numbers without sweating or sticking my tongue out. Perhaps this is why I can no longer understand the Republican Party. Up until recently I thought that maybe I had gotten too big for my britches, perhaps I was going through a latent parent rebellion or even something more esoteric like self-actualization had made me disagree with the Republican Party. But, alas, no. Thanks to Rick Santorum, now I understand that we elite, braniacs will never understand Republican parlance because of our smarts.

Warner Brothers Studio Tour

I was born in Southern California. When people talk of the tourist industry, I usually don’t see why anyone would visit Southern California. Sure, it’s beautiful, the weather is usually perfect, there are a billion things to see and do but this is my home, no big deal. I thought I had seen everything that L.A. County had to offer. Sure, everyone who grows up here at some point in their lives had met or knew of many people who were in the film industry. In fact, when I was in college at Loyola, most of my friends aspired to a career in the film industry. So there was little mystery to that whole part of L.A. for me. Remember, I did voice over work for “It’s Alive 3: Island of the Alive” (1987) for pizza and beer.

It’s Not Just Politics. It’s Personal.

I use to be a Republican. I registered to vote on my 18th birthday. I voted for Reagan for my first presidential election. Back then, the Republican Party was simply the fiscal wardens in Washington – small government, big business. The social programs to help the poor, old and disabled would handle themselves if we allowed business to make big money. Every first lady since Jackie Kennedy was pro-choice including Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush and Laura Bush. In fact McCains wife is Pro-choice. You could be pro-life or pro-choice without it affecting your political career.
