Calling All Angels

Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Happy Kwaanza and the Best Yule Tme everyone! Happy Holidays for those a little leary of acknowledging the religious overtones to those words. We understand. We were raised to believe that this time of year we celebrated and welcomed our savior into the world; the only son of the Father being born in a manger. In fact, in 1969, Lee was at a hardware store with her parents and found the most incredible manger. It cost $9.99! It might as well have been a million but her parents bought it. 40 years later, that same manger is under our tree. Does it define everything or merely confuse the purpose of the season?

We Believe in Santa Claus

It is Monday of the last full week of posts of the year for us. We asked our bosses and they were gracious enough to let us only post a couple of times a week until next year. This gives us more time to wrap gifts and cater to their every whim. This is also the time of year where we bust out the good cooking. Paul will reconnect with his Hungarian roots and whip up some retes and Lee will come up with some great food surprise for the entire family for Christmas Day. We have faith that all our effort is taken into account.

You Better Not Pout…

The Monday after a holiday weekend is like recovering from a bender. We have actually focused our attention on getting our home and family ready for Christmas! The inside of our home looks like Vegas meets Santa’s workshop while the front of the house is always a work in progress until we tear it all down the day after Christmas. We adore Christmas and use it to its full advantage. What does that mean? Well, we believe that the song ‘Santa Claus is coming to town’ was a gift to parents to keep their kids in line for at least a month. We are also firm believers that it is never too late to get off the naughty list and be nice.

You Know You Want to.

Wondering what you should buy your special someone for Christmas? How about some Dysaffirmations?! During this wonderful Christmas season, don’t some of your friends need reminders like a t-shirt that says ‘Toxic relationships are better than loneliness’? Or a mug that reminds us that ‘Magic, like happiness, is just another lie we tell our children’. It just warms your heart, doesn’t it?

It’s the thought that counts but I want presents.

MONDAY! O.K., we need to go through our check list. Back to school? Check. Jewish holidays? Check. Columbus Day? Check. Halloween? Check. Veterans Day? Check. Thanksgiving? Check. So that’s it? Yep. We made it? Yes we did! Can we say it now? Go ahead! Oh my God, Christmas is coming!!! (cough, cough) Sorry about that. We wait all year for this time and we tend to get a little excited. We have mentioned that we are the crazy Christmas freaks who get their shopping done before Columbus Day and measure the season by the amount of lights our ginormous tree has. The gifts, which we adore, are really secondary. Besides, isn’t it the thought that counts?

Romance, Cruising and Food

Good Monday everyone and we hope you are well rested after this glorious weekend we just had. Oh, your weekend wasn’t restful, exciting, fun and romantic? Sorry. Maybe it’s because didn’t do a TV show on MomTV then immediately hop on a cruise on Norwegian Cruise Line like we did. Does it sound like bragging? Well it isn’t. We are truly singing the praises of a form of travel that is unsurpassed for couples. We are talking about starting a vacation from the moment you board the ship to the moment you get off. For a busy couple, that is the only way to go.

Inner Elf

It is Monday of a crazy week in the CoupleDumb. And we really mean crazy because this week’s theme is losing your mind. We’re not talking about the clinical slow slip into dementia kind of insanity but the kind that takes you because you have just chosen to abandon your senses and give into a moment of cuckoo. Whether it is a moment of fun like shooting someone in the ear with a spit wad or a curse filled tirade at the slow driver in front of us, we all have those times when the doors of our little inner asylum are thrown open and all hell breaks loose.

Making an As out of Sum and E.

Hey Everybody! It’s November already and we couldn’t be happier. Here in our CoupleDumb, the day after Halloween is officially the start of Christmas Season! Yes, we are those people who put up decorations way too early and have an almost insane collection of Xmas music and ‘vintage’ Costco ornaments. So as we begin our preparation for this exciting time, we turn to reflect on our behavior over the last year. We realize we have been remiss. We have been too busy telling you all about how to have healthy relationships we haven’t told you what not to do. We haven’t given you the Cliff Noted version of the 10 Commandments of Relationship. Well, since we refuse to be considered naughty, by Santa anyways, let’s begin the ‘Don’t Week!’

Miscarriage, Acceptance and Being Pissed at God

It’s Monday of what is shaping up to be a weird week. We were, and still are, doing aging this week but somewhere between last week’s theme of pregnancy and this week’s celebration of birthdays we took a hard turn into this week’s real theme of life, death and acceptance. After some thought and a little movie inspiration, we realized pregnancy week was not over yet but aging week started long ago. Yes we talked about all the wonderful things about being pregnant and having kids and how the kids adjusted to the new kids. However, we missed the most emotional experience we had when we were pregnant several years ago. That baby did not make it. We hate to start the week on a bummer but we promise if you read this all the way through, it will give even the saddest of you a little hope and that is what getting older is all about. Now, the miscarriage post.
