Loss of Respect – A Relationship Felony

This week we are jumping back into the dysfunctional relationship pool and discussing the common ‘relationship crimes’ people commit to destroy and undermine their relationships. Most people would think that the worst relationship crime would be infidelity. However, the truth is that infidelity is actually part of a larger set of behaviors that hurt relationships. Yes, infidelity is painful and horrible but the problems that lead to infidelity are the real crimes that, if addressed early enough, can actually be mitigated to the point of strengthening the couple.

Relationship Penal Code

Romantic Relationships are considered to be the greatest source of meaning in a person’s life. The research has shown that married people live longer, are happier and tend to be wealthier than singles. With all this good press, it seems silly that people would sabotage their relationships or not get the most of the ones that they are in. This week we are jumping back into the dysfunctional relationship pool and discussing the common ‘relationship crimes’ people commit to destroy and undermine their relationships.

Get A Minor Miracle

Paul and I have worked in and for non-profits. We still consult with a few and are grant writers. We love working with organizations that are doing it right; embodying the spirit of a non-profit and doing something for the community or world that makes a difference. We are currently working with an organization that is all about empowering minorities to be entrepreneurs and another organization that is working to make water safer to drink. In the past we have worked with several non-profits that are dedicated to the homeless. We have even worked with Moms who were collecting business attire for homeless women looking for a job. These are the people who are creating minor miracles and major miracles in our world every day.

An Honest Approach To Grieving

A month ago, I lost my Mom. I had dealt with loss before. I had lost family members who I adored. I had lost best friends suddenly. I had experienced loss through the eyes of my clients and worked at being a source of support. I have been there for family and friends. I have read the books and articles concerning grief, complicated bereavement and can recite the stages from rote. I can honestly say that very little prepares you for loss other than one thing.

Detox Your Home

3 years ago we moved to the mountains of Southern California to live a healthier lifestyle. In the mountains, we spend more time outside, take long walks and hikes and plan adventures a few times a month. Part of living a healthier life is keeping as many toxins outside of our home. This sounds easy but there are so many innocuous things out there that are toxic. Here are some of the things we have outlawed in our home:

Get Affordable Insurance Until The End Of The Month

5 years ago, as a family of 5, we were uninsurable. We had pre-existing conditions; lots and lots of preexisting conditions. Paul had a bad back with several discs that were out of place. I have fibromyalgia and a weight issue. And last, but certainly not least, we have a blind daughter who had a stroke at birth. The only way to have some insurance is to insure our boys. The rest of us had to be without. We were lucky to have some family members and friends who are doctors to give us a freebie or the occasional script. Other than that, we were on our own.

Being Beautiful Forever

There is no reason to try to look older. Time will handle that for you. As people that have seen almost a half of a century, we know what it is like to look back as well as look forward. The ending events of your senior year are one of the first real times that you experience this. Of all of the festivities, prom is one that spans time. It is a celebration of the past, a singularity of your present self, and a memory that will shared over and over in your lifetime.

Pretty Glasses On My Face

Several people have expressed their concern regarding buying glasses online. They assume that discount glasses or cheap eyeglasses are codes for poor quality. We have been purchasing our glasses online for several years now and have tried many on-line companies. We will admit that we have had trouble in the past when buying glasses online and have returned glasses to have them redone. Without equivocation, my prescription sunglasses from GlassesUSA.com are the best on-line glasses I have ever purchased.

The Five Second Rule With Upgrades

We love our boys but they are pigs. The five second rule easily turns into the five minute rule if there is an engaging cartoon to distract them. Hell, we have seen them eat an old Fruit Loop from under the couch which means that there is a five month rule that we did not know about. We are not clean freaks in the least. We believe in mud and dirt. We know that some bacteria is good for the immune system but sometimes we just look at them and say, “Dude…gross!”
