Goodbye To 2013

As we say goodbye to another year, we need to reflect on all the good, bad, and ugly of these last 12 months. As in everything, the bad times help us define the good. Bad times are also opportunities for growth. We have often discussed the importance of making sense of the senseless. The ability to make meaning or derive significance to the invariably difficult times of life is a skill that will help us create happiness and subjective wellbeing. Buying A Dream

We are a bit surprised at how little people know about buying a house. Lee and I both did our time in real estate. Lee once had a mortgage license and a title agent license. I have a real estate broker’s license and a contractor license. Many people believe that it is nearly impossible to buy a house. From my experience the easiest people to get a loan for are people with a bunch of money or, and this may surprise you, people right around the national low income levels.

Paul just turned 49 and is pushing 50. So, in his senility, he has decided to train to be on the show American Ninja Warrior. Remember that he is a geek with math skills, not athletics. So now we are doing the whole exercise and eating right thing. The people at eMeals gave us a free membership to review. This came just in time for the training season. Turbo Family Challenge

We have 3 kids, two dogs, a very busy schedule and a million things to do. Goals are a reality of life and we have short term and long term ones. We easily manage our goals and are motivated usually by the bajillion things we have to do just to squeeze in a nap. The kids, on the other hand, are another story. We have one who needs to handle her life and career, another who is working on math goals that are self-imposed and the youngest who just needs to stop wiggling long enough to get his chores done.
