App To Stop Bullying
We are enculturated to believe that violence is inevitable. This is a message that bullies are constantly trying to transmit to people. Toughen up. Grow a thicker skin. What if we all start catching them in the act and revealing their violence to the world?
CoupleDumb has been talking about cyber-bullying for several years now. Since we first published AntiSocial Media a few years back we have been presenting all over the country on issues of bullying and cyber-bullying. There have been great strides made in educating the public of the tragic effects of bullying but there is still much more work to do. Bullying will never stop until we understand what it means.
The statistics of bullying, domestic violence and sexual assault are still staggering even after all of this awareness.
Every day, 160,000 students skip school because they are afraid they will be bullied.
Every two minutes, somewhere in America, someone is sexually assaulted.
One woman is beaten by her husband or partner every 15 seconds in the United States.
97% of rapists will never spend a day in jail.
There is an average of 207,754 victims (age 12 or older) of sexual assault each year.
There is a new app that is scheduled to be launched on April 19, 2013 that is a step in identifying bullying and perpetrators. (Horcasitas, E., 2013)
Bullies of all kinds are getting away with their crimes and turning around and threatening their victims so they won’t come forward. This is why CoupleDumb is endorsing the new I-Phone App, ICE BlackBox being released today. This app is simply the last line of defense from perpetrators. The app provides the user a means to video their attacker/bully and this video and audio is instantly communicated to your “In case of Emergency” list as well as your GPS coordinates. The video cannot be erased and can be used to bring the attacker/bully to justice. The app is also equipped with a 911 function that works like a panic button while you film.
The general effects of this app will only be felt when we spread the word. When bullies and attackers understand that ICE BlackBox will capture their image, they will know that their anonymity cannot be insured with threats. The other features are vital for your own safety since it transmits your GPS coordinates to your emergency contacts and being able to simultaneously record your attacker and contact 911 will make the bully think twice about going through with their attack.
It’s time to pull back the curtain and expose the bullies/attackers to the world.
ICE BlackBox compensated us and provided us the app to write this feature. We are taking our code and offering it to one of our readers. Leave a comment telling us who you give this app to here or on our Facebook page and we will pick a random winner on April 22, 9:00am PST.
