50 Things I have learned in 50 years
Over the next 50 days, I will be going over the 50 things that I have learned to make my life awesome. I know people are always doing these but so few of them have a PhD and 25+ years of experience working with human beings on what they want and changing the things they don’t like. Here is my list which will culminate on my 50th birthday.
I know you are thinking, ‘No way! You’re going to be 50 years old?’ Which brings me to my first life lesson……
- Moisturizer is your friend…but being happy is better.
The women in my family age gracefully. By gracefully, I mean they went kicking and screaming into their twilight years. My Mom’s matronage was dead set on keeping the illusion of youth with hair dye and a moisturizing routine that included a vat of creams that they swam in. It sounds like I am exaggerating but you never had to kiss my Mom goodnight and get a lipful of that stuff.
My routine is simple, I moisturize after my evening shower with a night cream and again in the morning after my shower with my day cream. I get very little sun because I believe I am part vampire and the sun hates me.
The happy bit is actually easier….I choose to be happy. I can wake up in a shitty mood like anyone else, probably less nowadays. I work at being happy. I sing. I smile. I laugh. I act goofy. I kiss my husband and make lewd suggestions. I make plans. I joke around. I avoid negativity. I block the icky and embrace the beauty.
I believe I am happy so I do things that happy people do.
Come back for the next 49 days and see what else I have learned.
