50 Things I have learned in 50 years – Day 22
There is a month until I turn 50. I have been sharing some of the things I have learned over the years the last 20 days (#50until50) and have been surprised with some of them. Why is my list better than someone else’s? Why do I think the lessons I have learned are better than others? Honest answer? I don’t. I am just happy that I have not stayed stagnant and I have committed myself to a well examined life.
I know you’re thinking, ‘What else could you have learned?’ Which brings me to #22
Love conquers all…..except stupidity.
I often am taken aback at how people use the L-word with broad strokes and give it magical powers but hoard it like it’s in limited supply. Love is abundant. Love begets more love.
If you tell me your God loves all then that is not limited to the people sitting in the pews. If you tell me that your God commands us to love, then obviously your God has met you and does not trust that you will.
I am not being pithy but it is natural to love. For some reason, society likes to curb the loving to specific areas or love zones. You can love your family but you can only like your friends. You can love your spouse but you can only like your neighbors. Love is a bad word for some who just can’t fathom how we can love anyone outside of our own group. Guess what, there is enough so spread it around. And yes, I love you even if you are stupid.
Come back for the next 28 days and see what else I have learned.
