50 Things I have learned in 50 years – Day 18
Over the next 50 days, I will be going over the 50 things that I have learned to make my life awesome. I know people are always doing these but so few of them have a PhD and 25+ years of experience working with human beings on what they want and changing the things they don’t like. Here is my list which will culminate on my 50th birthday.
I know you’re thinking, ‘What have you learned about life?’ Which brings me to #18
Rain or shine, for better or worse….how about some more options?
Life is not either or. Life is not the red wire or blue wire. We keep thinking that the way to right the wrong is to hurt the person who wronged. We keep thinking that the best way to fix something is to swing the pendulum all the way to the other side. 180 degrees is an awfully big swing and the reality is that any extreme is sick. I am reminded that Jim Fixx, the man who created the jogging craze in the 70s, died of a heart attack at age 52. How did he die? Jogging.
What does it mean? Take it easy. All work and no play, makes Jack a depressed boy. All play and no work makes Jack a broke boy. Fanaticism, extreme sports, radical acts and thoughts are the road to sickness. Chill. Take a seat. Stop and smell the roses…just not all of them.
Come back for the next 32 days and see what else I have learned.
